Yeah, that's right. I moved all future blogs over to jseleven.tumblr.com
Go check it out and get up to date on Jake of America.
Amidst the fun and meeting people and going to great conferences such as SXSW (South by South West) and helping clients to see the new dynamic of what Social Media truly is and the impact everyone can make in this STILL definable medium is very rewarding. So, having a bit of fun is always...well?...FUN!
I am telling you my friends. Milwaukee is more than just a city. It is pride and love. You would have to be here to understand it. So, this is not a surprise when you see a fellow Milwaukeean who has body art of her city of choice on her wrists. Truly a Milwaukee Moment to have a fellow citizen of the city I love so dearly be the barista of my morning latte'.
The best coffee in the whole entire life.

Let a Milwaukee Moment be the thing that causes me to stretch my fingers out and begin typing.
#5789: (Like I am really counting)
So C-note and I got together for dinner over at Hooligans. Anyone who knows us, knows how much we love Hooli's. It's a Jake and Courtney thing, but you're always invited to be a part of it too, which makes it a Milwaukee thing.
Another habit that we both seem to have is the desire to take some time out from life and sit on top of North Point Hill and drink a beer and stare out over Lake Michigan.
We typically stop at Whole Foods and pick up a big ol' oil can sized beer and just relax on the hill.
We approached the beer cooler section, I looked over to Courtney for her take on the choices available and just as I looked over, her face lit up like a firecracker and she started jumping, dancing around and pointing at our beloved Lake Front Brewery Oktoberfest.
AWWWWW YEEEEAAAAHH. It's that time of the year. Lake Front Oktoberfest is typically available in late August or early September. With the kind of Summer that I have just had, I am still thinking that we are somewhere in the middle of July.
(Background on LF Oktoberfest: Being that it comes out in late Summer or early Fall; Courtney and I had a college ritual of spiltting a 6-pack (doin' a side) during the first week of classes before one of our classes. Typically this would be before one of our typography classes, becasue it has been proven in clinical studies that well made beer enhances your typography sesibilities. Serious! Look it up on google.)
So, the purchasing choice was made in that gleeful moment. I said to Courtney: "You have your keychain on you?", "Nope! You drove! Where is yours?", "Not on this set of keys."
Being the traditionalists that Lake Front Brewery is, you need a bottle opener. No twist offs.
We started looking around for those IMPULSE BUY bottle openers, but there were none to be found. We asked various employees of Whole Foods if they knew where we could find a bottle opener to purchase in the store. We started telling our story about how we intended to go to North Point Hill, hang out and consume the beer we were about to purchase. One of the employees brought back anotherone with him. We asked her if she knew where we could buy a bottle opener (insert the spiel about going to North Point Hill here) and she said: "Hang on. I will be right back." She came back with this mini-beer bottle shaped opener. She said: "You can have mine. It was on my key chain and I have a new one at home. Plus, it is such a beautiful night out, so enjoy." Courtney and I questioned: "Are you sure?" She insisted.
So another Milwaukee moment was experienced. Most Milwaukeeans do have a bottle opener on their key chain and she was giving her's away. What would she do if she encountered the same issue when she go off of work?
So we wandered off to the hill and thought of cool ways to re-pay the favor. Once on the hill we were reminded that this is the weekend of the 105th anniversay of Harley Davidson. Fortunately the roar of motorcycles were few at this point and we just sat on the hill and enjoyed our beer, caught up on life and finally found ourselves sitting on the hill in the dark.
Much later a sherrifs car came screatching up nearby. We froze and began thinking of ways to explain that we were innocently enjoying all that Milwaukee has to offer. Moments later, they screatched off just as fast as they came in. We laughed an carried on. I started pretending that I was an immigrant from Oblivia who thought he was drinking rrrrRoot Beer. You had to be there.
The smell of vapor in the air, the sunset, the kindness of others, the beer and the friendship made this a true Milwaukee Moment that helped me remember that it still is infact Summer, but not for much longer.
